FIREMAN SAM AND THE ELUSIVE SPARK

Well its now 2005, and the competition must be scratching their heads as to what to do to beat the seemingly unstoppable ACI Flyer!

2005 rolled round as 2004 had ended with a new record performance and a win from Dave ‘Grumpy’ Wilson and the team. The event was the first round of the MSA British Drag Racing Championship over the Easter weekend at Santa Pod, contested in the coldest conditions seen for years.

A 5.66, 243mph run secured the number 1 qualifying spot and a first round date with Lindsey Deuchar. Lindsey had struggled mightily in qualifying but sprang to life in the first round again Grumpy with a 5.79, 219mph personal best!

The ACI gang were not to be outdone however as a 5.59, 254mph run was more than enough to cover his opponent by 2/20ths of a second.

An improved 5.52, 253 mph run in the semi final bye set up a classic match up with long time nemesis Rob Turner whom Dave has raced many times on tracks all over Europe.

It proved to be a stormer and hopefully a taste of more to come as the season progresses. Grumpy took the win, elapsed time record and MSA championship points lead with a stunning 5.50, 248mph run to Turners right there 5.54, 251mph try.

With this being the first round of the 6 race series, 2005 is shaping up to be another record setting and winning year for the ACI Flyer!
