01/06/2005 THE QUICKEST AND FASTEST MUSTANG IN ENGLAND!!!! What better way to promote the link between high performance American Muscle cars and Drag Racing than compete in ACI Racing’s new, super high performance 2005 Mustang! Not only has the car been radically modified in the UK by American Car Imports, but it is also daily driven by Anthony Cohen around North London and raced on the track by business partner Jon Cohen at the Drag Strip. The Whitsun bank holiday weekend at Santa Pod Raceway saw the first round of the FIA European Championship for the current European championship team of ACI Racing. It was also the debut of the stunning, now over 450bhp ACI Racing supercharged 2005 Mustang in Sportsman competition aswell.  Boasting many performance upgrades including a vortec supercharger, lowered suspension with high performance gearing and aerodynamic bodykit the Mustang took to the track to break into the hallowed ground of a 12 second ¼ mile time. This is territory normally reserved for a very few supercars, with only the Lamborghini Murcielago and Ferrari Maranello achieving such times to date, and at a much heavier price tag to boot! So with the stage set for some fantastic drag racing action, Jon took to the track 5 times on the Friday of the event during qualifying and ended up with a very stout 13.10 at 105mph for the standing start quarter mile. Even then, the team knew there was more in there and on Saturday morning John coaxed out that magical 12 second elapsed time with a sensational 12.98 at 105 mph!!! Still the team weren’t satisfied and on Sunday in eliminations infront of a packed house of drag racing and American car fans the pony car roared up the strip to the tune of a 12.88, 107mph run that had the whole ACI contingent screaming for more!! As that was the end of the action for the team that weekend, they vowed to continue and lower the bar even further and chip away even further into the 12 second bracket. Oh and just so you know, the Ferrari Maranello took years of development and will cost you approximately £150,000 to do a 12.8 second quarter mile……But the ACI Racing Mustang will be even faster in the months to come so watch this space!
