CREW VACANCY FILLED,
EUROPEAN PREPARATIONS UNDERWAY
American Car Imports Racing are pleased to
announce that we have found a new crew member in the shape of car mechanic Mike
Nicholls from Hook Norton in Oxfordshire. Mike will work alongside our current
bottom end man, Fred Wilbanks, for the remainder of the season before taking over
the role when Fred returns to the USA at the end of the season.
Drag racing is
nothing new to Mike as he has been around the sport for many years and has also
campaigned his own slingshot in the UK's Wild Bunch Category. After spending a
couple of weekends trying out with the team no-one was in any doubt that he was
the man for the job. "I'm delighted to welcome Mike to the team" said
Crew Chief Andy. "Good crew are like gold dust and good bottom end men are
like, well, platinum dust I suppose."
After a damage free weekend at the
opening round of this year's FIA championship we have been able to concentrate
on routine servicing and building up the war chest for the upcoming races. A third
engine will be ready soon and more spares are on their way from the USA. When
the truck leaves the country for Finland, it will not return until after the FIA
rounds in Sweden and Norway so it needs to be stacked to the rafters with spares,
consumables, and of course beer.
