UNDEFEATED IN 2005 AND ONLY 1 EVENT TO GO...
Everyone on the ACI Racing team thought 2004 was a banner year, that was until 2005 arrived!
In every race that has been run, completed and points scored at the ACI steamroller has set low elapsed time, won the event and bean undefeated!
With just the European Finals at Santa Pod in England to go, an unprecedented undefeated season could be on the cards!
First to Mantorp Park in Sweden and qualifying was dominated again by Grumpy and the crew!
Opening with a new track record elapsed time of 5.459, 260.10 mph run the team were never headed throughout the weekend.
An improved 5.435, 260.51 mph run in the second session saw the 3rd straight number 1 qualifier of the FIA season go to Dave and the team.
This outdistanced the rest of the field by nearly a tenth and a half with fellow Brit Rob Turner floundering in second at 5.591, 254.43 mph.
With the first round scheduled for 10am on the Sunday, racing didn’t start until 2pm due to heavy overnight rain. When the rain did stop, the Mantorp track crew worked very hard to day the track and the sun even came out to warm it a little before the first round!
Top Methanol Dragster finally took to the track at around 3.30pm and Dave put an exclaimation mark on his number one qualifying run with a 5.522, 256 mph solo run to take his place in the semis.
Swedens Krister Johansson also advanced with a 5.62, 256 mph run to face Dave in the semi final.
However, due to the very late start to the racing day and the 5pm local curfew at Mantorp Park the event was curtailed at the semi final stage of all FIA classes.
A very successful weekend all the same with the FIA traveling acceleration show moving on to………..
Round 4 Gardermoen Norway
Moving into the Norwegian round of the series the ACI steamroller was looking to tie up its 3rd consecutive FIA European Championship.
Again however, it was the weather that was the ultimate victor in Norway with the whole of finals day and Saturday qualifying being lost to the wet stuff!
Grumpy and the team were again in the process of dominating proceedings before rain stopped play.
With one run, and another low elapsed time of the event, Wilson edged closer to the title with a 5.487, 261.60 mph charge.
With the final round of the series in a few weeks time at ACI Racings home track in England, join us at Santa Pod to see if we can complete a perfect unbeaten season!
