EUROPEAN DRAGSTER EXPORT
After
a damage free weekend at the opening round of this year's FIA championship everyone
at American Car Imports Racing has been free to concentrate on routine servicing
and building up the war chest for our upcoming European tour. Over the next 6
weeks we will be competing in the next three FIA rounds in Alastaro, Finland,
Mantorp Park, Sweden and Gardermoen in Norway.
At our last race we put in a checkout
pass on the new spare engine, serviced it and then stored it in the trailer ready
to run, complete with the spare clutch already attached. We then put in 5 runs
on our new number one engine including a European best ever elapsed time of 5.565
seconds and an FIA European speed record of 252.84 mph. Back at the workshop that
motor was stripped, serviced, rebuilt and found to be in excellent condition.
Not one single part needed to be changed before the motor was rebuilt ready to
race which is very rare indeed.
Once all of our existing equipment was all set
for the trip we turned our attention to building a third motor and finding somewhere
in the trailer to put it. This is the first time we have ever loaded the truck
up for three races in one go and it wasn't easy cramming in all the spares, sundries,
consumables after we'd loaded the beer.
A report of our exploits in Finland will
appear on this site shortly after we return to England.
